AHS Choir Nationally Featured

Congratulations to Sandra Chandler and the Alexander Choral department for being featured in three major national publications with the possibility of adding even more to the list.  Over the past year Mrs. Chandler has been working on a major project with the Smithsonian Institute through their Folkways initiative.  She along with noted composer Tim Sharp arranged a piece of music to be featured in the collection.  Mr. Daniel and his wife then used music composition software to digitize the arrangement and make it something that could be easily shared.  The Mastery Choirs then learned and filmed a performance of the piece at the ruins at Sweetwater Park.  Alexander student Isaac Breiding filmed and edited the video. Mrs. Rager contributed lesson plans teaching the history of the piece and the language of the period.  This undertaking is an incredible accomplishment.  You can check out the full article, watch the video, and look at available resources through the Smithsonian at the following link:

Great work to all involved!
